#capedawnproject continues into 2019

Committing to finding one morning a week to get up well before sunrise, make a flask of coffee, get to the top of Ou Kaapse Weg and accept whatever weather is thrown at you, is indeed quite a commitment! There have unfortunately been weeks that conditions or time were really not on our side, so we will have to make them up next year.

The earliest wake up time was in December at 03:50AM for a 05:28AM sunrise. But after the summer solstice we started to get a little more of a lie in. In these 3 months sunrise times went from 05:41AM to 06:55AM. Likewise the position of the sun rising over the Boland Mountains shifted back towards the north and gradually started to appear over False Bay & Strand.

The hyperlinks below provide all the detail of this shift of the sun. Vibrant colours at this time of year, which probably has to do with the temperatures which were generally very pleasant and even balmy on the “berg wind” days.
